The Mission

EuroClothes' mission is to create a community to unite European influences into one sustainable platform, showcasing Europe’s rich culture into modern fashion. This community is based on people interested in fashion, sustainability, ethical manufacturing and also our customers. In a fast paced fashion market, our mission to slow down, and create a unique and enriching experience for our customers. This will be achieved by providing sustainable and tailored pieces for each of our clients, on a made-to-order basis. The designs will be provided by our designers, from which the community will select the ones that will be available to the market.

The Challenge

The current fashion market is based solely on consumption, despite the fact that this is an important aspect in people's daily lives. Fashion consumers who are looking for unique clothing pieces that feel like they are made just for them, often find themselves in a position in which they either have to compromise their morally driven choices or the stylish and modern clothing that fits into the European tendencies. People feel like a passive consumer contributing to fast fashion by purchasing basic garments. This is where we find a gap and lack of a community based clothing platform where users can get the experience ion tailored and unique pieces for their wardrobe.

The solution

EuroClothes is a sustainable, community-driven fashion platform that empowers emerging European designers and offers customers unique, culturally inspired, made-to-order clothing with meaning. EuroClothes solves four major gaps in the current fashion market: 1. Lack of opportunities for fashion students & emerging designers
Nowadays, there are many fashion students who have ideas but no stage. Young designers struggle to gain exposure, access professional equipment, produce their work sustainably, and connect with an audience. EuroClothes is a platform for emerging designers to present their work. To add, it is based on a made-to-order production, so designers can create without the cost of mass manufacturing and have access to materials, community feedback, and visibility. EuroClothes is the pan-European network, which allows designers to showcase diverse fashion identities. 2. Absence of sustainable, high-quality, and culturally meaningful fashion Fast fashion dominates the market with poor quality, pollution-heavy manufacturing, generic designs and no cultural identity. Meanwhile, existing sustainable brands often offer limited fashion diversity. EuroClothes’ solves this issue, since it creates sustainable, European-made garments, on a made-to-order production, thus no overproduction and less waste. The designs are inspired by Europe’s four unique vogues and the materials are high-quality and sourced responsibly by thrift stores. Consumers want sustainability and beautiful, unique clothing — EuroClothes has both. 3. Lack of a real “fashion community” for consumers
Fashion today is transactional. Customers buy clothes but feel no connection to designers or the creative process. EuroClothes is a community-driven platform where: -consumers vote on designs -They follow designers, hear their stories, and attend events -They engage in workshops, styling challenges, and storytelling Thus, clothing becomes personal and meaningful, not just a product. 4. Disconnection from cultural identity, especially for young Europeans
Many Europeans living away from home or studying abroad feel disconnected from their roots. There is no fashion brand that authentically showcases the cultural richness of Europe in a modern way.European cultural identity is underrepresented in mainstream fashion. EuroClothes is a platform that sells clothes inspired by European styles and local stories. It is a way to feel connected to home through fashion. Our implementation plan: Our next steps are launching a minimal viable collection, collaborating with the contacted designers from FLS in Maastricht and potentially Maastricht University (e.g. UM Merchandise). The initial source of textile will be the mixture between new fabric and recycled fabric (also existing clothes collected from students). The prize money would allow us to cover this first launch (textile costs, designer costs, marketing, etc.) Additionally, we are going to build our digital presence by opening a waiting list to be part of our community and present our idea to the public (Website, Social Media). This will allow us to make our first pop-up in Maastricht. Based on the early community members and the feedback on the first collection, we will be able to assess whether establishing contracts with big suppliers for textiles, designers and further scaling plans.
