Joinly’s mission is to give students, expats, and young locals a real-time, intuitive overview of social life in their city. By aggregating events, sports activities, and venue offers into a single live map, enriched with crowd insights and simple coordination tools , Joinly enables people to quickly decide where to go and who to join. We help newcomers build social connections faster, while providing local venues with a direct, data-driven way to reach the right audience at the right moment. Our long-term ambition is to become the standard real-time interface between people and their city’s social life.

The Challenge

In many cities, discovering and joining social activities is far more complicated than it should be. Students, expats, and young locals rely on a fragmented mix of WhatsApp groups, social media, flyers, booking platforms, and word of mouth just to understand what is happening around them. There is no single, reliable place that offers a clear, real-time overview of nightlife, sports activities, and local offers. This fragmentation makes social life inefficient and often exclusionary. Many people return to the same few places simply because they lack visibility into what else is happening, while others discover great events only by chance. Planning an evening or weekend often means searching across multiple channels without a clear sense of where people are actually going. The same issue affects sports and casual activities. Even when spaces and interest exist, newcomers struggle to see where games could happen and how to join without an established group. Local deals and promotions face a similar visibility gap. Creative offers exist, but they reach only a limited audience, causing users to miss value and businesses to miss demand. As a result, many opportunities within cities remain invisible, disconnected, and difficult to access.

The solution

Joinly is a mobile platform that provides a real-time overview of city social life across three core pillars: nightlife, sports, and food & local deals. Through an interactive map, Joinly aggregates venues, events, pick-up games, and student-focused offers, enriched with time, location, and simple crowd indicators.For users, Joinly replaces fragmented discovery across messaging groups, social media, and separate websites with a single interface that shows what is happening in real time. For nightlife and local deals, Joinly functions as an independent decision layer: starting from Maastricht, venues are mapped and categorized so users can compare options by atmosphere, popularity, and available offers, and then proceed through existing booking or walk-in channels where applicable. For sports and casual activities, Joinly enables users to create and join lightweight pick-up games linked to real locations. For example, users can publish open sessions at specific times and places, allowing others nearby to discover and join directly through the app. Over time, this user-generated activity creates a dynamic view of when and where social and sports activity is taking place, without requiring complex venue integrations. In doing so, Joinly creates a clear, real-time connection between virtual discovery and the social life of the city.
